Updates come through the App Store, push notifications through Apple, and purchases go through your Apple Account.
Android
JilChat is free on Google Play. Install it, open it, sign in with Twitch.
Updates arrive automatically through the Play Store, and purchases go through your Google Account.
On first launch
JilChat sends you to Twitch to sign in. That is the official OAuth route: you type your password into Twitch, never into JilChat.
After that you pick your channels. Emotes and badges load in the background, so the first channel takes a moment.
