Cancel JilChat Pro

The exact steps on iPhone and Android, the notice period, and what happens to your account once the subscription ends.

Last updated: 20 August 2026

The short version

Only JilChat Pro (€2.99 per month) can be cancelled. The free plan is not a contract and needs no cancellation.

The subscription runs monthly and renews automatically for another month unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. There is no minimum term beyond the month you are in.

The purchase goes through Apple or Google, so cancellation happens there as well. JilChat cannot end a store subscription from the outside - we see none of your payment details and have no access to your store account.

iPhone and iPad (App Store)

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name (Apple Account) at the very top.
  3. Choose Subscriptions.
  4. Tap JilChat in the list.
  5. Tap “Cancel Subscription” at the bottom and confirm. If it says “Resubscribe” instead, the cancellation is already in place.

You can also go straight to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. If JilChat is not listed there, the subscription has either already ended or was bought through a different Apple Account.

Android (Google Play)

  1. Open the Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the top right.
  3. Choose Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  4. Tap JilChat in the list.
  5. Tap “Cancel subscription”, pick a reason and confirm with “Continue” and “Cancel subscription”.

On a computer the same path is at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. What matters is being signed in with the Google account you bought it with.

If you cannot reach your store account

Sending a cancellation to JilChat will not help you here, and we would rather say so than leave you in false comfort: the subscription contract is between you and Apple or Google. Only the store can end it - an email to us neither stops the notice period from running out nor prevents the next charge.

So if you are locked out of your store account, that is where to go:

If you keep being charged for Pro although you cancelled, do write to [email protected] anyway. We can look up which subscription status reaches us and put that in writing for you to take to the store. What we cannot do is cancel on your behalf.

What happens after cancelling

  • Pro keeps running until the paid period ends. Nothing is taken away immediately; the store then shows an expiry date instead of a renewal date.
  • After that the app falls back to the free plan and stays fully usable. Highlight rules beyond the limit of three are switched off rather than deleted, and come back if you subscribe again later.
  • The confirmation comes from Apple or Google by email. That message is your proof of cancellation - keep it.
  • There are no pro-rata refunds; the running month is not split. Refunds are decided by the store alone: reportaproblem.apple.com for Apple, the “Request a refund” option on Google Play.

Withdrawal within the first 14 days

Withdrawal is not the same as cancellation: it unwinds the contract retroactively instead of ending it at the end of the period. As a consumer you generally have 14 days for this. That right expires early if you expressly agreed to immediate performance and confirmed that you thereby lose it - which is the normal case when buying inside a store.

Because the purchase contract is with Apple or Google, that is where withdrawal goes. The full conditions are in the Terms of Use.

Cancelling is not deleting

Cancelling ends the subscription and leaves your account in place. The reverse holds too: deleting your JilChat account does not end a running subscription - it keeps running in the store and keeps being billed. If you want both, cancel in the store first and then file the deletion request.
