How to moderate Twitch chat from your phone

If Twitch lists you as a moderator in a channel, you can delete messages, time out and ban users from your phone too: in the Twitch app, with chat commands, or in a chat app like JilChat.

Last updated: September 27, 2026

In the Twitch app

Tap a user’s name to open their card. As a moderator you will find timeout and ban there.

With chat commands

The commands work anywhere you can type into chat:

  • /timeout NAME 600: times out for 600 seconds
  • /ban NAME: bans permanently
  • /unban NAME: lifts a ban
  • /slow 10: slow mode with 10 seconds

In JilChat

In JilChat, timeout, ban and delete sit right on every message, in every channel where you are a mod. Together with keyword highlights and multiple chats at once (Pro), you can keep big chats under control on the go.

Permissions come from Twitch. JilChat grants none of its own and cannot do anything your Twitch account is not allowed to.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need special permissions to moderate from my phone?

Only the usual ones: the streamer has to have made you a moderator on Twitch. Which app you use does not matter.
