How to get notified when someone mentions you in Twitch chat

Twitch’s own notifications are mostly about channels going live. Mentions in chat you usually only see if you happen to be looking. For reliable alerts, use highlights in a chat client and push notifications on your phone.

In the browser and on PC

Twitch highlights messages that contain your name. Extensions like BTTV and FFZ, and Chatterino, can also highlight your own keywords and play a sound while chat is open.

On your phone, even with the app closed

In JilChat you set up highlight rules: your name, specific users or any keyword. The free plan allows three rules.

With Pro, matches arrive as push notifications through Apple or Google, even when JilChat is fully closed.

  1. Open the highlight settings in JilChat.
  2. Add a rule, for example for your name.
  3. With Pro, turn on push notifications for that rule.
